A bicyclist traveling on North Street died Tuesday from injuries sustained after being struck by a sport utility vehicle.

Police received a call reporting a serious motor vehicle incident involving a bicyclist around 8:00 a.m.

Kim Siladi, 63, was turning right onto North St. from Madison Ave. and did not see the bicyclist  before striking him with his SUV and trapping him underneath it.

At the scene, Danbury medical and fire crews  needed to lift the vehicle with rescue jacks in order to extract the bicyclist from beneath the 2005 Nissan Xterra driven by Siladi.

The bicyclist, who’s to remain anonymous pending notification of the family, allegedly had a heart attack during the event and was taken to Danbury Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Danbury Police Department. Authorities ask that any witnesses to the accident contact (203)-797-2157.
